We just wrapped up a phenomenal butchery workshop at the farm, and I can't begin to express how fulfilling it's been to guide such a fantastic group of individuals through this journey. Over the weekend, we dove deep into the art of butchery, not just as a skill but as a way to reconnect with our food and its origins. It's been truly inspiring to see everyone embrace the challenge and grow in their understanding of sustainable living through hands-on experience. To all who joined us, thank you. The skies opened up in a torrent, sheets of rain turning the world into a blur. There the three of us drove this Ole Ma, Ole Pa and Little Raye. Through the downpour, hoping or tires held to the pavement,  we navigated toward a divine decree we never could have envisioned. We had answered an ad for a single pup, imagining a straightforward adoption of one furry companion. Life, however, had other plans. It was a sweet older couple, long-time customers of our farm, who we're the owners of the pups. They were completely overwhelmed. They had a new grandbaby on the way, due any moment, and many other circumstances that made it difficult for them to find homes for the puppies. Through a series of messages, it was decided that we would take the whole litter. The whole litter! This simple yet flavorful sauce will become your go-to condiment, transforming our burgers into a gourmet delight. Let's dive into the recipe and get ready to wow your guests this weekend! Ingredients - 3 heads garlic, unpeeled - 1 tablespoon olive oil - ½ cup sour cream - ¼ cup mayonnaise - 1 green onion, chopped - ½ tablespoon dill pickle salt (or to taste) - ¾ tablespoon ground black pepper Directions 1. Sitting here under the gazebo as I write, I’m marveling or something at just how far it’s come. What started as an idea so many months ago, sitting in the sunshine with a table full of friends, has now become a reality – a reality we never thought possible. From cutting the giant posts from trees here at the farm and hauling the rocks one load at a time from all corners of the property to now reaching the final step of completing the roof, every stage has been a labor of love. We’re using rawhide leather from our own supply of hides, tanning them ourselves. This involves the backbreaking work of scraping the hides, removing all the bits of flesh, and meticulously going through the tanning process. It's been a journey filled with blood, sweat, and tears, but the reward of seeing our vision come to fruition with all-natural materials is beyond satisfying.
