Ole Ma's Ramblings

The skies opened up in a torrent, sheets of rain turning the world into a blur. There the three of us drove this Ole Ma, Ole Pa and Little Raye. Through the downpour, hoping or tires held to the pavement,  we navigated toward a divine decree we never could have envisioned. We had answered an ad for a single pup, imagining a straightforward adoption of one furry companion. Life, however, had other plans.

It was a sweet older couple, long-time customers of our farm, who we're the owners of the pups. They were completely overwhelmed. They had a new grandbaby on the way, due any moment, and many other circumstances that made it difficult for them to find homes for the puppies. Through a series of messages, it was decided that we would take the whole litter. The whole litter!

So there we were, driving through a fierce spring storm, with our hearts flooding,  excitement  popping and cracking like the lightning in the sky, on our way to meet the fluffballs and make the transfer. The rain hammered down, the thunder rolling,  lightning flashing illuminating the road ahead in brief, brilliant bursts. The journey up to Naples was wild and exhilarating, each mile bringing us closer to our fluff balls!

Go big or go home. Bringing home one pup is a big deal. Bringing home seven even bigger. Topping off the enormity of it all, Guys they aren't regular size pups. Nope. They are St Bernard, Great Pyrenees Anatolian crosses.

The ride home was serene despite the storm. The big, mellow puppies mostly snoozed, their soft, warm bodies providing comfort. A few nestled in our laps, while the rest slept soundly in the back seat of the pickup. The rain pounded on the roof, gentle breaths of the sleepy pups and the fuzzy warmth of their cuddles flooding. us

In that moment, the verse "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap." We had wanted to give one pup a new home, but here we were now at overflow, puppies and excitement washing over us.

I couldn't help but reflect on the nature of abundance. Life has a way of presenting us with more than we anticipate, not just in quantity but in depth and meaning. We just never know really when the ordinary moments  are going to turn into  sudden squalls of extraordinary blessings.

Finding homes for these little ones has been a journey in itself and only two  sweet girls remain. The others have found places where they can flourish. Some have become guardians of new homesteads, others the loyal companions of families. Their futures, now bright with promise, are a reflection of the love and care they'll receive.

That rainy day, as we were drenched and muddied, will forever be carved in our memories- a day of unexpected blessings, of abundance pressed down, shaken together, and running over. We set out with a simple mission and returned with a truck-full of joy and responsibility, a reminder that giving opens us up to receiving more than we could ever imagine.

In the midst of life's storms, let's always remember that blessings often come in torrents, filling our lives to the brim and beyond. By opening our hearts, we create space for an overflow of grace and gratitude.

Blessings friends!
