Italian Chilli With Pork Sausage
Italian Chilli With Pork Sausage
This Italian Chili has been our go-to recipe for years, and its story starts with Hannah when she was just about 5 years old. She loved being in the kitchen, and this dish was perfect for her to make on her own, which made it special for all of us. As Hannah grew, so did our tradition, and the recipe continued with Harv, who took it on with enthusiasm. Now, Raye Raye has joined the tradition, making this chili with the same ease and enjoyment.
What we love most about this recipe is its simplicity and how quickly it comes together. With most of the ingredients already in our pantry, it’s the perfect choice for busy days. Whether we're feeding a big family or just looking for a comforting meal, this chili is a reliable favorite that always delivers.
Italian Chili Recipe
Ingredients:
2 pounds Italian-style pork sausage
2 cans Italian-style diced tomatoes (undrained)
2 cans kidney beans (undrained)
1 onion, chopped
1 cup fresh basil, chopped
Garlic powder (to taste)
Instructions:
In a large frying pan, cook the Italian-style pork sausage over medium heat, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks. Continue cooking until the sausage is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
In a large pot or crock pot, combine the undrained Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained kidney beans, cooked sausage, and chopped onion.
Add the chopped fresh basil and garlic powder.
If using a crock pot, cook on low for 4-6 hours until the flavors meld together. If cooking on the stovetop, bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and let it cook for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh basil if desired.
Enjoy this hearty and flavorful Italian Chili, perfect for a cozy meal!
