The days have been long and dry, not just in the way of weather but in the silent absence of water. Our well, who's old and tired, suddenly fell silent. Cultivating Community...
This past week, we faced a challenging situation when our well went out. As we worked tirelessly to find a solution, we were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our friends. One by one, they showed up, each offering a piece of knowledge and a helping hand, ultimately leading us to a fix. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of community and the strength that comes from building strong bonds with those around us. It Takes A Village... 
Friends and followers of Raye of Hope, we urgently need your support! Troy's Mini Barns has graciously provided space for our homeless drive efforts, but they now require their unit back. With our tiny home overflowing, we're desperately seeking a new donated space to store items for next year's drive. Little FarmHer Raye, who started distributing backpacks and stockings for the homeless at just 5 years old, has made a significant impact each year, and her efforts continue to grow. We're reaching out to our village for help because we absolutely have to find a place to store all this stuff. Your generosity and support mean the world to us! As winter blanketed the farm in its icy grip, we've grappled with the unavoidable truth that this season brings loss. While each departure weighs heavily on our hearts, two recent losses have been particularly significant. Big Bird, our cherished emu at the age of 37, bid us farewell after many years of companionship. While her departure was expected due to her age, it has left a profound void in our hearts. During her final hours, as we noticed she wasn't doing well, we brought her into the warmth of our home. For her last 24 hours, she was nestled under a blanket, surrounded by the comfort of our presence. It was a peaceful and intimate farewell, a fitting end for our dear feathered friend. Hopping Right Along

It was right before the weather turned cold that our little FarmHer was gifted a colony of breeding rabbits. And true to rowdy Raye they couldn't just be cute cuddle buns, oh no! They had to of course be…  meat rabbits!  Yes, meat bunnies! It wasn't just the rabbits themselves, it was all the things that go along with them too. She and Ole Pa were tearing up the road dragging home the happy hoppers and all the paraphernalia that go along with them like cages, water system, feeders and more. Somehow they even managed to sneak in another barn kitten to add to our cat herd.  Now what? Raye, having grown up here where we have an almost obsessive need to provide more than adequate care for critters, decided the accompanying cages were not large enough. This, despite the fact that they are almost double in size of industry standards cages just wouldn't work for the pint size peanut. Ole Ma's Ramblings

This week's newsletter will be a bit brief, as recent events have left our hearts heavy. There was a break-in at the farm, and it has been incredibly sad not seeing folks come and go, sharing in the simple joys of farm life. We've had to close the farm stand temporarily as we regroup and reassess.  It's a time of pulling in close, recalibrating, and finding our footing once more. The farm, which is usually a place of bustling activity and community, feels strangely silent without the daily interactions we cherish so much. Our hearts just aren't in it right now, as we navigate through this period of uncertainty and reflection. Through this, we lean on our faith and the comforting words of scripture. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
