Memories Made

Looking through photos recently I came across this gem taken several years ago!  It was as though time itself had become a river, washing over me, carrying me back to a moment when the world felt both vast and confined. It was taken during Covid's shadow, remember how it loomed so large, yet amidst that storm, there were pockets of peace to be found.

We chose to defy the darkness by seeking solace in the open spaces, where the embrace of nature offered a balm to our weary souls. In the middle of social distancing, we found closeness in the laughter of our family, and simple joys of the farm guiding us like a lighthouse through that fog of uncertainty.

The farm, too like an ever-changing water, has witnessed the ebbs and flows of life since that time. We mourned the loss of many cherished animals, their absence leaving an eddy in our hearts. Yet, in the quiet moments of higher tides, we found comfort in the promises of new beginnings and moms gave us babes who've gone on to become mothers themselves and grandmothers themselves. Generations of hope bubbling forth. Scriptures whisper to us of eternal truths, reminding us that even in our deepest valleys, there is a hand guiding us, a Light leading us. As we watched new life springing forth, we're reminded of the Maker's divine plan, winding and flowing through the years

Covid will forever be etched in America's landscape however hopefully amongst the brackish moments and memories there are reminders, like this one, of the waves of laughter and triumph. Because no matter what life brings, we can emerge not as victims of circumstance, but as warriors of resilience, guardians of hope. A changing mindset leads to spirits unbroken and hearts overflowing with gratitude for the blessings found amidst the storm.

My Grammie used to say, "We're making memories," when life would flood in close and things were far from idealistic,  and indeed, and was so right! Amidst the chaos-whatever it was, we crafted moments that would be etched in our hearts forever. The mess the day this photo was taken! Barefoot muddy prints from cold-soaked toes, pant hems stained from red river mud, only solidify the laughter we felt that day as unknowingly we were right there in the middle of making memories.

Radiant smiles, captured and even now reminding us that though in the darkest of times, there is light to be found if only we have the courage to seek it.

And so, we carry on still, fueled by hope,  guided by faith, and forever grateful for the blessings found amidst whatever life decides to wash over us. Floating with the flow and riding the trickling tides of the years.
