What's wrong with this picture?

Another glorious morning on the farm? Well, the view out the window this morning might be, but it's not the peaceful wake-up we would like to be having.

It looks downright picturesque if you didn't know not a one of those critters belong here in the yard! Pigs, horses and out of frame some goats, more pigs and who knows. And it was reverberation of a large boar grunting outside the window and not the alarm that woke us.

We haven't made it all the way out. We decided to at least get a few gulps of coffee into us before we go chasing  and coaxing them back where they belong. We know how it goes here. Once we step out it could be hours before we get critters and chaos back under control. Literal hours.

Sunday before last, three mid size pigs got out and in turn spooked a cow, which broke a fence and on and on and on- and what started at 3 in the afternoon wrapped up just after 9:30 pm -oh and did I mention it was the Sunday we had that mega thunderstorm and all that rain? We were, hungry, hurting and soaked by the time the last gate was locked.

So right now, we are looking towards the sky, and sipping. We're hoping that overturned bucket and wheelbarrow are the only damage and the animals will go peacefully back to where they belong.

We can hope! We always hope here at the farm. Because something like this could run wild in one's mind and ruin an entire day.

Do need to say tho, days like this and days like that Sunday, that our pork could never cost enough. When folks complain about the price we just have to wonder if they were ever awakened to pigs screaming outside their bedroom window at 4:30 am, or watched a lightening, holding back 6 cows determined to charge through a small tear in the fence while soaked clean through from the hard rain? Probably not.

We have. And we will continue to. Because even on mornings like this, we know we are so blessed to be doing this life. Bringing food to our community no matter what it takes.

So as the last bit of coffee goes from this cup, and we begin to pull on boots, we offer up a bit more gratitude. And we hope y'all know that every bit of us really does go into that pork!

And If you stop by the farm stand today to get some of that pork we have on sale, plan a few minutes to give us a hug, we will likely need it judging by the sounds of the chaos out there!
